Pressure gauges
Pressure gauges are measuring instruments with which pressure can be measured. There are different types of pressure gauges such as standard tubular spring gauges, box spring gauges, hydraulic gauges and membrane gauges. The most commonly used application is to measure air pressure, but you can also measure the pressure of other liquids and gases.

How do you choose a pressure gauge?
The choice of a manometer depends on various factors:

• The amount of pressure (Bar) that the pressure gauge must be able to measure. Note: the pressure to be measured must not exceed 2/3 of the scale of the manometer, so that the meter can absorb any peak pressure.
• For which type of liquid or gas you want to measure the pressure. Not all pressure gauges are suitable for every liquid or gas. This depends on the aggressiveness of substances. A manometer can consist of phosphor bronze, which is not resistant to aggressive gases and liquids. Do you want to measure the pressure of aggressive substances? Then choose resistant material such as stainless steel.
• The ambient temperature and the temperature of the liquid or gas to be measured.

This mechanical pressure gauge contains a metal drum. When you measure a gas or liquid, the meter's resilient metal drum is pressed. Then the drum deforms and this is converted into a result of the meter, so that you can read the measurement.

A manometer can also be filled with a liquid - called glycerin. These pressure gauges with glycerine are intended for measurement where large pressure surges, vibrations or shocks occur. The liquid serves to collect this pressure in the pressure gauge. The glycerin prevents wear due to its damping effect.
